It's in jpg. There's no flow in the composition (mainly because the models are all "touching" the top of the banner. They function like some kind of interruption right there, bugging the eye. Also, a window in the right, stairs in the left???? Consistency where????)
Look at that lovely washed out look thanks to filtering. And with lovely, I mean it makes me wanna die.
There's not a single thing right in this. The scattered text, the lack of a clear focal point, the awkward blending. FIFTY SHADES OF NO.
Remember what I said about not mixing indoor with outdoor images? Yeah, well. Prime example.
Awkward blending & placement + shit ton of Topaz = KILL IT WITH FIRE.

Tea & Cookies - We Ran Out Of Cookies!
I haven't been feeling motivated enough to write this section, so I'll post some basic points regarding storytelling in graphics.
Before making the graphic
- At least have a vague idea of what you're intending to make. It will make it easier when it comes to picking the elements you'll be using.
- Do not force yourself to make something you don't want to make. DO. NOT.
- Having an idea of what you want to make doesn't mean you can't change it while you're working on it. Don't be rigid. Flexibility and versatility are a must.
- Get resources according to the story you want to tell. Do not pick them randomly. Do not place stocks/textures just because. They have to be related both to the concept your portraying and the other elements you'll be using. If not, the composition won't look natural and won't flow.
While making the graphic
- Making graphics is a process that may take little time, or lots of time. Do not push yourself to finish a graphic in a certain amount of time. Do not rush things out. Quality comes before quantity.
- Text isn't the only element to convey a message. Images are. Colors, expressions, even the amount of elements you place transmit emotions. So, in case I didn't make it clear yet, the resources you use matter. For example, if you want to create an atmosphere of chaos/emotional turmoil, a complex composition with many (many) details could help to portray such thing. If you want to portray solitude, a single model image and a graphic with lots of negative space is the way to go.
- Flow is the key. THE KEY, I TELL YOU. No matter which type of blending you pick, make sure that the stocks/textures you're blending altogether look good together. The graphic must look like an image that was just like that since the start. So, be sure to choose the right type of blending (and avoid things like using soft blending to mix up an image of a living room with an image of the woods. Just. Don't.)
- Graphics aren't just pretty things. If you ever feel like something's missing out in yours, maybe it's because there's no distinct "feeling" to it. Play around with stock/textures until it has /that/ emotion you want the viewer to see/feel.
- I can't stress this enough... PICK ELEMENTS THAT HAVE TO DO WITH EACH OTHER. A curly font in a dark graphic is a no-no. Dark coloring in an otherwise "happy" graphic is a no-no. Be consistent!
- Pick your text wisely, especially the main text. Highlight the words that mean the most.
Finishing a graphic
- For the love of your editing software... DO NOT OVER FILTER. Do not ruin your graphic by adding too much blur/sharpen/Topaz. It doesn't make it look good. It just makes it hard to look at. Besides, the more Topaz you add, the more details you erase. They become melted thingies.
- PNG format is your friend.
- If you're still not sure about the graphic, or something seems off, leave it like it is and come back to it a couple of hours later. Or a day later. Or a few days later. You'll look at it from a different perspective and that will help you point out what's not working out.
- Do yourself a favor—save an editable version of the graphic. Just in case.
Avoid these disgraces
